Lumi Group wins Innofinland prize

Lumi Group was chosen as the Southwest Finland winner of the INNOFINLAND 2010 competition. The theme of the competition was "Users as a source of inspiration" and the prize was awarded for the international potential for Lumi's innovative LED street lighting. Lumi Group's energy-efficient LED street lights achieve better lighting

Lumi Group has developed the Lumi R LED street light family providing long-lasting, maintenance-free and energy-efficient street and road lighting. The light source and connector are replaceable, unlike in many competing solutions. Energy saving LED lighting will replace other lighting technologies in the next few years. At the beginning of 2015 an EU Commission regulation banning the use of the current high energy consuming mercury containing lights is due to come into effect. Lumi R LED lighting will meet the coming regulations and is clearly a future lighting solution. By using LED lighting, towns and cities can achieve significant savings in street lighting energy costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions significantly. In Finland alone there are estimated to be 800,000 lights due for replacement and at an EU level the number is estimated to be at 80 million. Lumi Group intends to take its share of the market. The INNOFINLAND council of Southwest Finland estimates that the Lumi Group Snow R lamp is a potential technology leader in street lighting, both domestically and internationally. Lighting has already been commercialised and there are numerous reference sites around the Finnish.
